What is the additional Outdoor Coverage?

With our coverage for your belongings, your belongings are insured not only at home but also while traveling. Think of jewelry, electronics, or personal belongings you take with you. In the event of damage, you'll be reimbursed up to €5,000 , with a maximum of €1,000 for jewelry, €1,000 for electronics, and €1,250 for each other item. The deductible is €150 per event.

What is deductible?

In the event of damage, you always pay a small portion yourself: the deductible . This means we cover the majority of the damage, and you only pay an agreed-upon amount. This keeps the premium affordable while providing you with comprehensive coverage. In other words, you're insured against major costs without small amounts weighing on your budget.

Is home contents insurance compulsory?

In the Netherlands, home contents insurance isn't mandatory, but it's very sensible. It allows you to decide for yourself whether you want to protect your belongings. With home contents insurance, you always have a financial safety net in case of damage from fire, burglary, or flooding. That's such peace of mind!

Are the contents of my holiday home also covered by the contents insurance?

No, the contents of a vacation home are not automatically covered by the regular contents insurance for your primary residence. Contents insurance coverage is limited to the address listed as your primary residence in the policy.

I work from home and use my employer's equipment, such as a laptop. Are these also insured?

With our home contents insurance, you can also protect your business equipment – all items you use for business and for which you are responsible, such as items belonging to your employer or for a home office. Borrowed or rented items are covered by default, with a maximum reimbursement. Would you like to add additional coverage for your own business items? This is easily done as an add-on. For items used in employment, the maximum reimbursement is €1,250.

My child lives away from home. Are my child's belongings also insured?

No. Home contents insurance always applies to the address stated on the policy . For example, if your child no longer lives at home and is studying in student housing, they will need their own home contents insurance . This way, items like furniture, electronics, and clothing are well protected against damage from fire, theft, or water. With their own insurance, your child doesn't have to worry about unexpected costs and can study and live safely.

What is not covered by home contents insurance?

Our insurance offers comprehensive coverage, but there are a few situations where damage is not covered. For example, damage due to normal use, wear and tear, superficial scratches, animals or vermin, or errors during renovations or maintenance. Damage caused by construction defects, government measures, or to glass (without additional glass coverage) is also not covered. This way, it remains clear what you are insured for and what you can count on.

What should I do if changes are made to my home or furnishings?

Is there a change in your home, such as the construction type, roofing, or designated use, or are your belongings moving to a new address? Please let us know within 30 days . This way, we can assess whether your insurance needs to be adjusted, for example, with a different premium or terms, so you always remain well-insured.

When you move to another address in the Netherlands , coverage automatically extends for another 30 days , including theft and vandalism (after visible break-in). After this period, coverage only applies if we continue the insurance.

Important: Report any changes promptly. If you fail to do so, compensation will not be provided, but the premium must still be paid.

What should I do in case of death?

If you die, the insurance policy will continue. Your heirs can choose to terminate the policy with one month's notice, starting from the moment they learn of your death. This way, everything remains neat and orderly.

What should I do when selling my home?

Are you selling your home or is ownership transferred to someone else? Then your insurance will remain in effect for one more month . If the new owner wants to continue the insurance, they can, provided they notify us within that month. We can then cancel the insurance for a maximum of two months, with a one-month notice period. As soon as the new owner insures the property elsewhere, our coverage ends immediately.

When does coverage start and end?

Your insurance starts on the date stated on your policy and is valid for one year . At the end of each year, we automatically renew your insurance, so you remain covered without any worries . Please note: we reserve the right to terminate your insurance in the event of late premium payment or fraud.

How do I cancel my home contents insurance?
